“Learning from Leaders”π
Stats for the start π :-
“Americans sit through some 11 million meetings π₯ π₯ every day. And most business leaders find the majority of them to be unproductive.” Harvard Business Review (HBR).
I believe, meetings are inevitable, however, productive meetings are optional πͺ :-
π‘ 1. Be “purposeful” where every meeting must have agenda, structure and schedule.
π‘ 2. Every meeting must have a “leader” to ensure it stays on course.
π‘ 3. Call for a meeting, ONLY when essential and be outcome driven.
π‘ 4. “Two Pizza Rule” i.e. no more than 8-10 people in a meeting.
π‘ 5. Keep meeting duration as short as possible, i.e. 30-45 minutes.
π‘ 6. No PowerPoint presentation please, notes can be circulated before/during the meeting for participants to read and discuss.
π‘ 7. Be in the “meeting moment” meaning, no distractions like calls, emails, messages.
π‘ 8. No chairs to sit, standing only please
π‘ 9. Get out of the meeting, if you are not adding any value. No, it’s NOT rude.
π‘ 10. Follow-up for accountability…
