Reaching out to potential clients through email, LinkedIn, and other channels is a common practice for many of us. However, improving the effectiveness of such outreach can be a challenge.
I’ve personally tested and can vouch for these three tactics that can significantly boost your outreach performance:
- Learn About Your Prospect/Buyer: Start your email by addressing what your customer might be looking for – their strategic priorities, problems that need solving, or references to their interviews, posts, or articles. Briefly explain how your company or product can add value to their needs. End with a clear call to action, asking for their interest in exploring further, not just their time.
- Embrace Personalization, Use Humor! Understand your buyer’s interests and passions, such as hobbies like golf. Infuse golf references in your outreach, including the subject line and email body. Using analogies that relate golf to your prospect’s problems or your product’s value proposition can be a creative and effective way to inspire action.
- Power of Persuasion: Sending more than one cold email can help you gain mind-share with your prospect. Make each email about them, adding value and including timely references. For instance, if you know they’re attending a conference or event, inquire about the possibility of meeting them or one of your colleagues. Consider giving a thoughtful gift, such as tickets to a music concert or sports event, to show genuine interest and provide value to your prospect.
Try implementing these tactics, and watch your cold outreach performance soar!”
